About
- 1991 - established the VMA Training Center (VMATC) (converted from Orola fishpond)accredited by Maritime Training Council in 1993.
- located in the neighboring village, Barangay Pahanocoy; 1.5 kms from VMA Campus
- constructed swimming pools for Swimming and Life Saving per curricular requirements;
- later improved to accommodate facilities for SOLAS.
- 1990 – commended by the Department of Education, Western Visayas for substantial improvements; became the official practicum site for SOLAS training
of maritime schools in cities and provinces in Panay (Iloilo, Aklan, Antique & Capiz).
- 1992 – Accredited by the Maritime Training Council (MTC); member of the PhilippineAssociation of Maritime Training Council; Elected as Director in 1995; Vice President for Visayas in 1997 to date; affiliated with Mariners Polytechnic for transfer of technology.
- 1993 – Conducted SOLAS Training under MTC Permit
- Now conducting training to maritime students, as well as seafarers, and allied professionals from Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and as far as Mindanao.
Total of 4,600 trainees in 2007.
- the only maritime training center in the island of Negros, covering two provinces: Negros Occidental, Region VI and Negros Oriental, Region VI.
